<p>Lucknow: Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/rahul-gandhi">Rahul Gandhi</a> on Thursday said that every Dalit in the country is ‘Ambedkar’ even as he reiterated his charge that an attempt was being made to ‘scrap’ the Constitution.</p><p>Rahul, who arrived in his Lok Sabha constituency of Raebareli on a two-day visit, made these remarks while interacting with Dalit students.</p><p>He said that the Dalits had faced discrimination for thousands of years. ‘’Ambedkar kept this (discrimination) in mind when he prepared our Constitution....he gave power to the Dalits through the Constitution,’’ the Congress leader said.</p><p>‘’Every Dalit in the country is Ambedkar,’’ he remarked.</p>.Make your points strongly, irrespective of the language: Rahul Gandhi’s advice to Congress MPs.<p>Rahul said that the Constitution contained the thoughts and ideas of great personalities of the country and also our culture which was thousands of years old.</p><p>‘’The voice of the Constitution is being suppressed today... Dalits form 15 percent of the population but the CEO and owners of top companies in the country are not in that ratio,’’ he said.</p><p>‘’A conspiracy is being hatched to scrap the Constitution... it is our responsibility to safeguard it... Ambedkar wanted the Dalits to be educated and organised... they can get their rightful dues only,’’ Rahul added.</p><p>Congress has been trying to woo the Dalits through events like ‘Jai Bheem’ and making attempts to make a dent into the vote bank of BSP supremo Mayawati. Senior Congress leader Udit Raj had recently attacked Mayawati and said that she had failed to stand for the rights of the community and also made an objectionable remark on her.</p><p>Mayawati had hit back at the grand old party saying that the Dalits would not be swayed by its programmes to woo them.</p>
