Last Updated 19 May 2019, 20:26 IST

The BJP will win big in Karnataka, with the saffron party increasing its tally compared with the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, according to exit polls aired by various TV news channels on Sunday.

As per the exit polls, the BJP will win a maximum of 25 seats and a minimum of 17. The Congress is projected to win a maximum of 11 seats and a minimum of three seats. The JD(S) will win one to three seats. Karnataka has 28 parliamentary seats.

However, the suspense continues over the result of Mandya parliamentary seat, where Independent candidate Sumalatha is locked in a tight contest against alliance candidate Nikhil, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. The exit polls are divided over the Mandya result.

India Today Axis Poll predicted that the BJP will sweep the State by winning between 21 to 25 seats. The Congress would win three to six, while its alliance partner the JD(S) will win one to three seats. Aaj Tak-Axis My India’s exit poll was almost on the same lines.

Today’s Chanakya gave the saffron party 23 seats, the Congress-JD(S) five. C-Voter’s exit polls gave the BJP 18 seats, the Congress seven, JD(S) two and independent one seat. Times Now gave 21 to the BJP and seven seats to the Congress-JD(S).

In 2014 LS polls, the BJP had won 17 seats, the Congress nine and JD(S) two.
