Congress president Rahul Gandhi today retorted to the jibe by Prime Minister Modi on his family, saying Modi was free to talk about him and Rajiv Gandhi but should also tell the people of the country about the Rafale fighter aircraft deal.

“You may talk about Rajiv ji and me as much as you want. But you must also tell the people about the Rafale deal. You must also talk about your promise of two crore jobs to the youth,” Rahul said at a rally in Haryana’s Sirsa on Thursday.

The rally was in support of the Congress candidate and state Congress chief Ashok Tanwar.

While Modi has been attacking the Gandhi family in his speeches during his campaign, the prime minister during a rally held in the national capital yesterday accused former PM Rajiv Gandhi of using the Indian Navy warship INS Viraat as a taxi for his vacation with family.

Emphasizing the Congress' pledge to introduce the Nyay scheme that guarantees Rs 6,000 every month to 5 crore poor families in India, Rahul said the scheme will not be funded by taxing the middle class.

“There will be no increase in the tax. Not one rupee will be from the pocket of the middle class. It will be free Anil Ambani's pocket, who has been gifted Rs 30,000 crore by the PM,” he said.

Rahul questioned the Khattar-led BJP government in Haryana over the rise in drug menace in the state.
