JOIN USA group of 8 to 10 youths allegedly assaulted a man for speaking to a woman at Farangipet in Bantwal taluk on Sunday.
According to SP Ravikanthe Gowda, Suresh, a resident of Kota in Udupi, had come to Bantwal for personal work. While returning to Mangaluru, he stopped his car to speak to an unknown woman by the road. While about to leave, Suresh was stopped by the youths, who demanded to know the reason for speaking to the woman. The youths also abused and assaulted him.
The Bantwal police rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd. The injured Suresh was rushed to the government hospital in Bantwal. Based on the complaint by Suresh, the police have registered case under IPC Sections 144, 323, 504 and 149.
The police said that they have identified the youths and will be arrest them at the earliest. The woman has been sent home safely along with a relative. Even Suresh has been sent home along with his relative, the police added.
