Dhananjaya is all set to impress the audience with his upcoming bilingual film ‘Bhairava Geetha’.

The film is directed by Siddhartha and is jointly produced by Ram Gopal Varma and Bhaskar Rashi.

“RGV saw my performance in ‘Tagaru’ and was excited to cast me in this film. The film is about the clash between the labour and feudal class and is something that most people will be able to connect to,” he says.

The actor will be portraying the role of a member of the labour class in it and his look is different from all the other characters he has played so far.

“The movie reflects the current times, for example the honour killing that happened in Telangana recently. It depicts conflicts between the classes and castes. The movie clearly shows a revolt of people against the feudal lords too,” he details.

Ask Dhananjaya if it was challenging to play the role and he says, “The role is very intense and thus required a huge sense of concentration. I do not refer to other texts or videos to play characters. I just soaked into my character and essayed Bhairava, an innocent guy who has to fight for people’s rights. I listened to the story keenly and portrayed exactly what came to my mind.”

He adds, “There are many around us who have been suppressed for a long while and this drove me to perform. Everyone in their life’s journey would have been frustrated and it is easy to relate to Bhairava’s story. The film is not just about Bhairava, he just represents people suppressed over centuries.”

The trailer of the film which was released last month has received 20 lakh views and has been garnering a lot of positive feedback. “Whoever loved Dali will be excited to see me in a different avatar,” he says.

Dhananjaya feels the casting of the film and the ambience created by the director adds to it.

“It’s all so realistic that sometimes it’s hard to step away from the story,” he says.

The film is a Kannada-Telugu bilingual, which will also release in Tamil and Malayalam (dubbed version). It is scheduled to release in November.

Dhananjaya will also be seen in ‘Popcorn Monkey Tiger’ by ‘Tagaru’ director Suri.
