In just eight years, Ranveer Singh has carved a niche for himself in Hindi cinema, essaying a variety of roles, and delivering such hits as Dil Dhadkne Do and Padmaavat.

Known especially for his comic timing, Ranveer Singh celebrated last week a fashion brand he endorses: Jack & Jones. He answered questions from Surupasree Sarmmah of Metrolife at the event in Mumbai.

How would you describe yourself as a person?

I have evolved into a person that doesn’t take pressure in any situation in life. One can only experience pressure if you allow it. It is a choice one makes. So, I don’t ever feel pressured by anything in any aspect of life.

Are there occasions when you are socially awkward?

I am never socially awkward. I have an uncanny ability to relate to, connect with or hold an engaging conversation with a wide spectrum of people from all walks of life, irrespective of their age, gender or social status. I am never really awkward unless it is like an ultra-formal situation that has protocol to be followed. Let me say protocol makes me awkward.

Which Hollywood celebrities would you like to be paired with?

I would like to collaborate with my favourite actors Jim Carrey, Will Smith, Cate Blanchett and Robert De Niro.

Fitness to you means?

I believe in a healthy mind in a healthy body. Fitness is a large part of my life and whenever I can, I encourage young people to live a healthy lifestyle, exercise, eat right and maintain good habits. It is hugely beneficial to a person to pursue fitness.

Fashion, fitness or grooming — what’s your priority?

They are all important but fitness is very personal and important to me. So, in order, it would be fitness, grooming and then fashion.

Would you go to a big bash or to the quiet countryside?

Definitely a quiet countryside.

The last thing you do to wind up your day...

I like to spend time with myself and my own thoughts. That kind of ‘me’ time is invariably important.

A habit you want to get rid of?

I want to work harder to improve my sleeping habits.
