The inaugural weekend of Puma Social Club, located in Indiranagar, started with the ‘Keep It Real Nights’, a three-day indoor EDM festival that showcased the evolution of dance music in the country.  Across three nights, the indoor club was packed with youngsters who were evidently eager to see what was in store.

Day one saw ‘Masta Justy’ warming up the crowd with his desi minimal electronic. DJ Uri showed off his turntable trickery and started off the underground revolution.  There was a collaboration between Sam (of ‘State of Bengal’) and Jivraj Singh aka Jiver, which saw a mix of dubstep, drums and several other elements. ?

The night was finally taken over by ‘State of Bengal’, who made sure that no man or woman was left standing.

The second night was less smooth flowing, owing to slot switching, crowd management and the electricity going off mid-gig.

Jiver’s beats set with live electronic music kickstarted the night earlier than his fans had planned to see him play.

Then came ‘Sandunes’ (Sanaya Ardeshir’s moniker) with her energy-pumping set and New-Delhi’s ‘Teddy Boy Kill’, who infused vocals with technological beat punk.

The headlining act for the night was pretty boy ‘Dualist Inquiry’ aka Sahej Bakshi, who played all the high energy songs from his album ‘Doppelganger’ while also sampling new material with the crowd.

“It was definitely one of my best gigs in Bangalore till date!” said Sahej, who was swarmed by fans for autographs and photographs after the show.

Pushkar, who had attended the second day, added, ““Dualist was by far the highlight of the night. The other acts seemed to have the audio resources but didn’t cut it when it came to musical creativity. Live vocals were a good touch by ‘Teddy Boy Kill’. Puma Social Club was a great venue for that gig. The sound levels were respectable, while still driving the audience to jump and bounce.”

Day three began with the showcase of the ‘20 Hz’ workshop, which had been conducted by Sam. Budding DJs and upcoming electronica artistes participated in the workshop and they were given a chance to sample what they had been working on with the crowd.

This was followed by the techno takeover with artistes like Kohra and
Tuhin Mehta, who believes in the old school breed of DJs. Saving the best for last, the closing set was by Anil Chawla, who ended the night with style!
