The BJP has decided that “large-scale corruption allegation” against the 15-year-old Congress government in Manipur would be its main poll plank for the early 2017 Assembly polls in the state.

The BJP wants to repeat an Assam-like poll performance in Manipur, where the party has seen a huge increase in strength in the past three years.

A two day state executive of the BJP in Manipur decided to make ‘corruption free Manipur’ as its poll slogan. The meeting ended on Monday.

The meeting was attended by state in charge of the BJP for Manipur Prahlad Singh Patel and Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, who is the state election in charge.

Apart from them, all top BJP leaders and MLAs in Manipur were present. Keeping in mind the ensuing polls, the BJP has taken a few major steps and sent fresh directives to its over 2,000 booth level committees in the state.

Each committee will have to append “Vote for BJP” at at least 200 households in each ‘mandal’. The drive will be continued till October 15, party sources said.

Javadekar also announced that at least one full time worker of the saffron party will be appointed in all the 60 mandals across the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in forefront of the campaign for the Manipur polls.
The party decided that it will not open “flood gates” for Congress leaders to join them but induct people from the Congress in case-to-case basis.
