CRPF man, forest guard injured in Jammu shooting

A paramilitary personnel and a forest guard were injured after suspected militants travelling in a truck opened fire on a CRPF patrol party in Jajjar Kotli area along the Srinagar-national Jammu highway on Wednesday.

Reports said the militants opened fire at the CRPF party on the highway at around 8:10 am, leaving a paramilitary man injured. The injured CRPF man was identified as Domesh Dass, who was shifted to a nearby hospital.

Reports said soon after the incident, security forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in the area to nab the assailants.

A police spokesman said that an AK-47 rifle and three magazines were recovered from the truck in which the militants were travelling. He said the truck driver and the conductor were taken into custody.

“Two to three suspected militants who ran away from the truck are being chased. Police army and CRPF activated,” he said.
