Patel quota stir leader Hardik Patel has announced a day-long protest on Sunday against government’s indecision to provide a venue for proposed indefinite fast.

Hardik, who has announced his intent to go on an indefinite fast from coming August 25 said, "For last two months the state government has acted unconstitutionally and failed to provide us with a venue to begin our indefinite fast for the cause of farmers and social injustice. We will hold a protest against this on August 19 at Parking Zone ground,” Hardik said in a social media message.

Hardik had met Ahmedabad Police Commissioner A K Singh and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vijay Nehra with a request to grant him official permission to hold his fast in Nikol. He had even enlisted several alternate venues in the area. However, with police and local governing bodies working on to put traffic system in place due to Gujarat High Court order, many of the vacant lands across the city, including the venues sought by Hardik for his fast, have been converted into parking lots. This has irked the 24-year-old youngster, who has now announced a protest against this move.

Hardik said that he would be joined by 501 of his supporters in this token day-long protest.
