The Patna High Court on Monday issued notice to the CBI probing the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice R R Prasad asked the investigating agency to submit the details of its probe to the high court. The HC will hear the case after a fortnight.

The court was hearing the matter after several petitions were filed in connection with the shelter home sexual abuse case. Appearing on behalf of the Bihar government, Advocate General (AG) Lalit Kishore told the court that the CBI investigation should be monitored by the HC and speedy trial done so that the accused could be punished at the earliest.

‘IF MINISTER INVOLVED, SHE WILL QUIT’

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that if his minister Manju Verma, who holds the charge of Social Welfare Department, was found guilty, she would be asked to resign. “I am not going to spare anyone. If she, or any of her kin, is found involved, she will have to quit,” Nitish cleared the air.

The chief minister was responding to media on Monday after concluding his weekly programme Lok Samvad (Public Interface).
