The High Court of Karnataka has directed that appellate courts should not refer to trial courts as lower courts or subordinate courts in their orders or judgements.
The order says it has come to notice that during the hearing of some cases in the high court, the trial courts are being referred to as lower courts. No court can be lower court or subordinate court. Therefore, it is not proper to use these words in the correspondence or in the court judgements.
