'Lies of Rahul Gandhi on Rafale deal have been exposed'

Accusing Congress of toying with “national security” by spreading lies about the Rafael deal, Union Minister Smriti Irani said on Monday that the Supreme Court’s verdict over the issue has exposed Congress’ lies.

“For the last one year, Congress has been constantly lying over the Rafael issue. The Supreme Court after going through all information has exposed Congress’ falsehood,” said Irani. She was speaking to journalists at the state BJP headquarters in Kolkata.

She also accused Congress president Rahul Gandhi of spreading lies regarding Rafael deal and alleged that Congress has maligned the image of the Indian Air Force.

The Minister also denied allegations of procedural lapses in the Rafael deal by the Centre and argued that the Supreme Court’s verdict has proved that the allegations were baseless.

“For the last one year Congress has been lying from every platform that due process of defence procurement has been violated has been violated. But now the Supreme Court has said that whether its the purchase negotiations committee or cabinet committee on security Centre has gone through all constitutional and administrative process in the deal,” said Irani.

Her comments come days after the Supreme Court dismissed petitions challenging the Rafael deal between India and France.
