Social activist Medha Patkar, who has been invited by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join it, is likely to take a decision by January 15 after consulting her colleagues.

Though she is seriously contemplating joining the one-year-old party, she believes that people’s movements should not surrender to electoral politics.

“I am consulting my colleagues on joining AAP and may decide by January 15. However, I do not want people’s movements to die; they must remain alive,” Patkar told Deccan Herald. She confirmed that the AAP is in touch with her and that she had a talk with party ideologue Yogendra Yadav.

She said that a meeting had been convened in Mumbai on January 12 to discuss her joining electoral politics.

Another meeting with a wider participation would be held in Wardha on January 23 and 24.

Meanwhile, senior TV journalist Assutosh has resigned as Editor of a prominent Hindi channel and is set to join AAP. While he confirmed the news to agencies, according to AAP sources he may contest Lok Sabha polls from Delhi or Uttar Pradesh.
