After NaMo t-shirts and other merchandise, now it’s time for a Modi-themed café.

Rodi Resto, a café which has been functioning since 2017 in Kovilpatti in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district, has become the world’s first Modi-themed café. The re-designed and re-look café was launched on Thursday and the owner says he hopes people will come to know about the “achievements” of the Prime Minister at least after visiting their outlet.

Awas Yojana, Mudra, Make in India, Ujjwala, Mann Ki Baat, Uri Attack and Surgical Strike are some of the schemes, programmes and achievements that feature prominently in the café. The owners say the motive was to create awareness among the people of Tamil Nadu on the “good work” done by the BJP Government.

“Modi wave has begun once again in the country, but Tamil Nadu is a little different. So, we decided to use our café to create awareness among people about the pro-people policies of the government. It just took a few days for us to design the wallpapers and change the theme into Modi,” Dhinesh Rodi, owner of the café and BJP youth wing functionary, told DH.

He says many in Tamil Nadu don’t even know what surgical strike is and when it took place. “The effort was to educate people,” he said. BJP hardly has any presence in Tamil Nadu and is hoping to stitch up a rainbow alliance to face the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

The state also trends #GoBackModi hashtag every time the Prime Minister visits, but he does have die-hard fans who have redesigned their café around him.

As the pictures of the café were shared on Twitter, NaMo app, which sells Brand Modi merchandise, has contacted Rodi for selling some of them in his café. Dhinesh Rodi said the theme has become popular and he was happy that he has been contacted by the NaMo app.

It is not new for Rodi to use the NaMo brand – he has been selling peanut candy in the name of NaMo for the past six years.
