EC to decide on Modi, Rahul poll violations today

Last Updated 29 April 2019, 19:03 IST

The Election Commission will on Tuesday take a call on the alleged violation of model code of conduct by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and Congress president, Rahul Gandhi.

The EC will meet on Tuesday and decide if PM Modi and Amit Shah violated its advisory by referring to Indian Army as well as to India’s airstrikes on a terror camp in Pakistan while addressing election rallies.

It will also take a call on the BJP complaint that Rahul Gandhi had been violating the MCC by continuously targeting the prime minister as well as the ruling party’s chief with baseless allegations.

The EC said it would decide on the cases of alleged MCC violations by the PM and the BJP president after the Congress moved the Supreme Court, complaining that the poll panel had been sitting on numerous allegations of violations of the codes by the two leaders.
