'Mayawati does facial, colours hair to look young'

After Union Minister Mahesh Sharma's objectionable remarks against Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, another BJP leader on Tuesday made a sexist jibe at BSP supremo Mayawati.

BJP legislator from Ballia district, about 425 km from here, Surendra Singh allegedly said that Mayawati did facials and got her hairs coloured even though she was 60.

"Mayawatiji does her facial every day...she gets her hairs coloured to look young," Singh was heard saying in a video, that has gone viral on the social networking sites.

Singh's remarks came close on the heels of Mayawati's reported statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wears expensive clothes.

"There is nothing wrong in wearing neat and clean clothes...Mayawati has no right to pass such remarks," the MLA, who had made controversial remarks in the past as well, said.

This is not the first time Mayawati has been targeted by BJP leaders. During the 2017 Assembly polls in the state, senior BJP leader Daya Shankar Singh had made derogatory remarks against the BSP supremo.

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav slammed the MLA for his remarks and said that they only reflected the true face of the saffron party.
