Amit Shah to give statement on Nagaland firing incident in Parliament

Sources said Shah will make the statement in Lok Sabha at 3 pm and in Rajya Sabha at 4 pm

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will give a statement on the Nagaland firing incident in both the Houses of the Parliament today.

Sources said Shah will make the statement in Lok Sabha at 3 pm and in Rajya Sabha at 4 pm.

Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue of killing of civilians by security personnel in Nagaland in Rajya Sabha.

Describing the incident as "most tragic", he demanded that Home Minister Amit Shah make a statement in the House.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said he has already spoken to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Shah.

Shah has written to the Chairman to make a statement in the House. Naidu said the Home Minister will make the statement in the afternoon.

Leader of House Piyush Goyal said the government is seized of the matter.
