The city of Taj has turned into a fortress with unprecedented security arrangements as it gears up to welcome US president Donald Trump, who will be visiting the Monument of Love (Taj Mahal) with his wife on Monday.

Huge hoarding displaying Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been put up in the route to be taken by the US president to reach Taj Mahal from the airport.

Officials said in Agra that around three thousand artists from the city and Lucknow would be presenting folk shows including folk dances, at 21 points on the route.

The Taj Mahal would remain closed for the public from 11 in the morning in view of Trump's visit, the officials said. The US president and his entourage would be reaching the Monument by battery operated vehicles as the use of other vehicles within 500 metre radius of Taj Mahal had been banned by the supreme court.

Thousands of school children would be waving the flags of India and USA from the roadside when the carvan of Trump passes by, the officials said.

Unprecedented security arrangements had been made for the visit and the city has been divided into ten zones. Snipers would be deployed atop the Taj Mahal during the US president's visit.

Sources said that the security arrangements has been beefed up following inputs of threat to Trump.

Sources said that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to accompany Trump during his visit to Taj Mahal.
