Last Updated 11 February 2014, 06:40 IST

Parliament was adjourned till noon today following uproar over creation of Telangana, harassment of Tamil fishermen and other issues.

Lok Sabha was adjourned within minutes after it met for the day, while Rajya Sabha saw two adjournments during the Question Hour.

Members from Andhra, cutting across party lines, trooped into the Well carrying placards saying 'Jai Samaikyandhra' and 'Save Andhra Pradesh'.

The government proposes to bring the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill for creation of separate Telangana even as political parties from the state are divided over the issue.

Some members from Bihar were seen with posters in Lok Sabha demanding special status for the state.

DMK members, including T R Baalu, raised the issue of harassment of Tamil Nadu fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy.

AIADMK members as well as Samajwadi Party MP Shailendra Kumar also raised slogans but were inaudible in the din.

Earlier, the House condoled the death of people in different accidents in Odisha and West Bengal.

In the Rajya Sabha, TDP, DMK and V Maitreyan of AIADMK trooped into the Well as soon as the House assembled for the day.

TDP members and a lone Congress member positioned themselves right in front of Chairman Hamid Ansari and held posters demanding a united Andhra Pradesh in a manner to ensure that cameras record their protest.

DMK members led by Kanimozhi shouted slogans seeking India's intervention to save Tamil Nadu fishermen held by Sri Lanka. They held banners that read 'Save Tamil Fishermen'.

Apparently upset with Rajya Sabha bulletin naming unruly MPs, Maitreyan tore copies of bulletins and flung them towards the Chair.

Ansari called Birendra Prasad Baishya (AGP) to make his submission on the attack on people of Northeast but protesting members refused to move from their places.

He then adjourned the House for 10 minutes.

When the House reassembled, similar scenes were witnessed with Maitreyan continuing to tear and throw copies of Rajya Sabha bulletin. TDP and DMK members too stood their ground as Baishya began speaking on the NE issue.

Amid din, Ansari adjourned the House till noon.
