Proceeds in Sabarimala crosses Rs 8 crore in five days

This is about one crore higher than the proceeds in the corresponding period last year.
According to the temple administration, Rs 8,33,83,914 was received by the shrine through various forms, including the cash offerings from devotees, since the 'mandala' season pilgrimage began on November 17.

Last year, the amount collected was Rs 7,44,39,026.The revenue from the sale of 'aravana' prasadam stood at Rs 3.28 crore, cash offerings in hundies at Rs 3.36 crore and the proceed through sale of 'appam' prasadam Rs 69.20 lakh, a temple release said.

There has been heavy rush of pilgrims since the very first day of the pilgrimage, despite the inclement weather in the last two days. However, weather has improved by this morning.
Authorities, however, warned the pilgrims to take due care while taking bath at Pampa river which is swollen and has strong currents due to downpour at the upper reaches.
