Last Updated 25 July 2019, 13:13 IST

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that the Pulwama incident in which several innocent lives were lost has united the world in the fight against terrorism like never before. He said this at the inaugural ceremony of the National Investigation Agency (NIA)’s office and residential complex here in Madapur on Friday. Singh also inaugurated NIA’s Guwahati office through video linkage. This office covers all north-eastern states.

“All countries are coming on one platform to fight terror. They are all of the view that there should be a decisive war against terror," Even Muslim countries have declared their support to the fight to end terrorism from the face of the earth,” Singh said. Organization of Islamic Conference for the first time invited India's foreign minister for its meet, he mentioned.

“The end of terrorism should begin from Indian soil. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken tough stand with determination to fighting terror after the Pulwama attack. He said all countries are coming on one platform to fight terrorism. “Terrorism has no religion, caste, and creed. Some people link terrorism to religion which is not correct”, he said. All Indians regardless of caste, religion and creed felt the same pain when the Pulwama attack took place.

Rajnath lauded NIA for solving many complicated cases including those related to terrorism and also registering 92 per cent conviction rate. NIA is also seeking cooperation from foreign agencies in gathering evidence in terror-related cases, he said. Stating that terror funding was a major factor in the promotion of terrorism, the Home Minister claimed that compared to the past terror funding had also come down thanks to the role played by NIA.

NIA has eight regional offices and 11 camp offices in the country. Delhi and Lucknow are the two other places where the agency has built its own complexes. The Hyderabad office covers Telangana, AP and Karnataka.
