Congress president Rahul Gandhi has unleashed a video war against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, targeting him for fielding tainted candidates, rising atrocities against Dalits and over skyrocketing petrol prices.

The videos appear to have hit the mark with one on rising atrocities against Dalits even eliciting a rejoinder from the RSS.

Hours before he took out a protest march in Kolar against rising petrol prices, Rahul posted a short video on his Twitter handle listing statements of BJP leaders, including Modi and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, over high petroleum prices under the UPA government.

“Despite international crude prices dropping up to 67 pc in 4 years of Modi government petrol-diesel prices are skyrocketing in India but the government that promised 'acche din' is silent. BJP is cruel. They loot in the name of fuel (sic),” Rahul tweeted.

He accused the Modi government of collecting Rs 10 lakh crore in taxes on petroleum products without giving any relief in prices to people.

“The BJP Government collected Rs 10 lakh crore in taxes on Petrol/LPG/Diesel since 2014. Yet, NO relief in prices for our citizens. This video shows the truth about fuel prices under PM Modi (sic),” Rahul stated on Twitter.

Earlier, Rahul had hit out at the BJP-RSS for their “anti-Dalit” mindset and alleged that as per the “fascist ideology” of these outfits, Dalits should continue to remain in the bottom rung of society.

The two-minute-long video put up by Rahul on Sunday also cited incidents of atrocities, including the alleged flogging of a few Dalit men in Gujarat's Una in 2016 and the recent SC/ST markings on the chest of Dalit candidates during a recruitment exam in Madhya Pradesh.

The RSS hit back at Rahul accusing him of indulging in “low-level politics” and misguiding the society with “lies”.

“Rahul Gandhi, on his official FB page, has posted lies about me and RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat that we want to abolish the reservation given to the SCs and STs in the Constitution, which is absolutely baseless and false without any official reference or source,” RSS joint general secretary Manmohan Vaidya said.

On Saturday, Rahul had demanded answers from Modi over the BJP giving tickets to those allegedly involved in corruption, including its chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa.

The Congress president had put out a video titled “Karnataka's Most Wanted” on his Twitter account to highlight the issue.
