Kerala left-front MLA and former minister K T Jaleel has withdrawn his 'Azad Kashmir' remark in a social media post.

After removing the 'Azad Kashmir' reference to Pakistan occupied Kashmir from his travelogue post, Jaleel said in a fresh post on Saturday that certain remarks in his travelogue had led to misunderstandings and being misinterpreted. "Hence those remarks were being withdrawn to ensure harmony among the people and society's welfare," he said.

Jaleel withdrew the remark after CPM senior leader and local self government minister M V Govindan said that Jaleel's 'Azad Kashmir' remark was not CPM's stand.

BJP had demanded that a sedition case should be registered against Jaleel. BJP state president K Surendran also referred to Jaleel's previous connection with the banned Students' Islamic Movement of India while flaying his 'Azad Kashmir' remark.
