Woman IRS officer commits suicide in Jaipur

A woman officer of Indian Revenue Service allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her home in Jaipur, a police official said on Tuesday.

Binny Sharma, 35, was found hanging in her home in AG colony this morning, Additional DCP (East) Hanuman Prasad said.

The body has been moved to a nearby hospital for postmortem.

A 2008-batch IRS officer, Sharma was posted as deputy commissioner in the central goods and services tax commissionerate in Jaipur, while her husband is also a government officer posted in Chandigarh.

"Reasons of the suicide are not immediately clear and the matter is being probed," the officer said.
