The one whom we listen to

Let me assume for the sake of dialogue that there exists a God who always keeps looking at all the living and non-living beings and specifically at human beings on what they are eating, what they are wearing, how they are judging others and all such stuff. Putting in one sentence, how they are behaving.

Why does God have to keep peeping, especially at human beings and micromanage them? ‘Perhaps’ this is what is going on in God’s mind — “Human beings alone keep fighting while other species tune to my voice silently and never fights in my name. ‘Perhaps’ they know that I am alone and all are from me and my part too, therefore fighting is ruled out amongst the ones who really listens to my voice, except the wisest among all species. Whenever the wisest species claim to hear from me, they begin to fight immediately. ‘Perhaps’ it’s right time to rewrite the definition of foolishness and wisdom.”

Now whether that God is male, female, neuter or neutral to all such categorisations and divisions, this is not agreed upon yet in the civil society except among people of religions, perhaps.

People of religion are very clear about the gender of the God of their respective religions. Though it is their belief only and not the verified truth yet, they are offended if you name it a mere belief. Such is the nature of their commitment to truth. One wonders, perhaps the fate of truth in religions is sealed by belief and not the other way round. Gandhiji said, ‘God is truth but before that Truth is God.’ But we quote him for his other beliefs than ‘his’ truth.

All this happens when a democratic system is put into practice without acquiring a modicum of universal education in which fundamental universal priorities and values of life are clearly defined and delineated. When basics are not put in place, then every decision reduces to the game of numbers interpreted according to the interest of the global manipulators of the power.

In such a situation values and priorities are not seen as synonymous with life. Lip service becomes the norm. In such a situation this assumption that there exists a God who really looks at our behaviour and doesn’t speak to us seems to offer ‘perhaps’ more peace than the one whom we listen to.
