Anilda Thomas of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, rewrote Tintu Luka’s record en route to the women’s 400M gold on the third day of the 75th All India inter-university athletics meet here on Sunday.
Anilda clocked 52.99 seconds to erase the mark of 53.26 set by Tintu.Two other records were created on the day. In the women’s 10,000M, Sanjeevini Baburao Jadhav of Savitribhai Phule Pune University clocked 34: 58:27 to surpass Varade Pooja’s record (36:04.64) set in 2013. Sanjeevini thus completed a double, having won the 5000M on Saturday.
In the men’s 400 metres, Lalith Mathur of Delhi University created a record clocking 47.10 seconds. Shamsheer S E and Rashmi K of Mangalore University won silver medals in long jump and javelin throw.
Meanwhile, Alva's Education Foundation announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for each new record in the championship.
