Ghei ended his campaign with a total of six-under 278 after sinking six birdies against three bogeys at the Seri Selangor Golf Club.
C Muniyappa could only manage a modest even-par 71 to end tied 15th with a total of two-under 282. Rahil Gangjee went over-par for the third successive day, carding a 72 to finish tied 29th with a total of one-over 285.
Gaganjeet Bhullar finally broke par, turning in a 67 to rise more than 30 spots to tied 32nd. Bhullar ended with a total of two-over 286. Further down, Anirban Lahiri was tied 47th after his week’s worst card of 76 left him five-over overall. Digvijay Singh (77) was tied 60th with an eight-over 292.
At the top, Australian Rick Kulacz claimed his second Asian Tour title, thanks to a sensational course record-equalling eight-under 63.
Jeev stumbles
A poor back-nine marred Jeev Milka Singh’s card as he turned in a one-over 71 to slip to the tied 36th spot after the second round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
The seasoned Indian pro, playing his first tournament after being laid low by a rib injury for three weeks, has a total of one-over 141 after two rounds at the Firestone Country Club.
A 10th-tee starter, Jeev parred five holes on the trot before stumbling to a triple-bogey on the 16th. He managed a birdie on the next hole but dropped a stroke on the 18th to make the turn three-over.
His front nine was markedly better as he picked up two birdies on the first and fifth and didn’t drop a single bogey to make some amends for the back-nine slump.
At the top, Irishman Padraig Harrington held on for a one-stroke lead after returning a 69 in the second round. Harrington totalled seven-under 133. South African Tim Clark (68) occupied the second spot, one stroke behind.
World number one Tiger Woods, seeking his fifth PGA Tour victory of the year and a record seventh title at Firestone, was five strokes off the pace after returning a 70.
At Reno, Arjun Atwal’s miserable run on the PGA Tour continued as he missed the cut at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open after returning a four-over 76 in the second round.
