The South African says there is no reason why the team can’t repeat the same. Excerpts from a media chat:

On the pressure after losing the first game:

There are a lot of expectations in the IPL. In the 14 games, I don’t think any owner wants to lose any one game. There is pressure even for the sides who have won two out of two, so nothing changes. We are one down, (but) last year we were four down. I have been there before, I am looking forward to being in front of the home crowd. That to me is a pressure I like, the Bangalore people behind us. I would like to make sure that our performance at home is good.

On difference in conditions between South Africa and India:What more do I want than to have Kumble and Dravid in the team? As far as tactics, they are better than most other players, they have played so much cricket in India. In South Africa, we led the way with our way of thinking, but in India, we have Dravid and Kumble, so we will change and adapt to the conditions. The tactics will be geared towards India and hopefully it can pay off because cricket is a funny game.

On not having a good start in the first game:
There are three phases of the game; the first six overs, the next eight overs and the last six. There is a great chance of losing if you don’t do well in any one of these phases. The thing is to package all the phases well.
After the start we got in Kolkata, we needed someone as ruthless as Ross Taylor to lift us from there. We miss him really.

On Kings XI Punjab:
When you look at Kings XI, it’s a good side. If I had to say to all of you that the Knight Riders would win two out of two, then everybody would have said no. Three of the semifinalists last year have already lost their first game, the only exception being Delhi. No side is an easy side; we just need to get out their tomorrow and make sure that our skills are used correctly.
