<p>The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has fired 56-year-old Italian coach Roberto Landi from the national team.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The LFA made the announcement Monday, two days after the national team, the Lone Stars suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of the Nigerian national team Super Eagles in the presence of thousands of Liberians, including President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.<br /><br />Coach Landi's dismissal is apparently based on his poor performances in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and quite recently with the homegrown Super Eagles of Nigeria, Xinhua reported.<br /><br />Meanwhile, former Lone Star player Thomas Kodjo has been named caretaker coach, as the team prepares for the African Nations Cup qualifier against the Brave Warriors of Namibia Feb 29.</p>
