The Knight Riders, who zoomed to fifth place after their win over Deccan Chargers, thus have a full strength squad at their disposal with six more matches remaining.

It is yet to be seen if the hard-hitting Kiwi opener will be included in their next match which is against the bottom-placed Kings XI Punjab on Sunday.

In case he is drafted in, Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews might have to sit out, with Chris Gayle, David Hussey and Shane Bond completing the foreigners’ slots.

McCullum shot into limelight with his 158 not out against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of the inaugural IPL in 2008 that still remains the highest score in Twenty20.
