So, the wait on Friday at the Scottish Open did not quite go in my favour as I missed the cut by one. There’s nothing more galling than missing the cut by one and you know that so many things could have gone ever so slightly your way and you would still be in. But then having been on the pro golf tour, one learns to take it on the chin and so it was this week.

.
Taking the positives, I played well in patches at Scottish and the front nines were good. Frankly, my game is a in good shape and if I can get my course managements in place, things should fall in place. I have been thinking about various aspects and hopefully I can take advantage of all that.

Gullane is a lovely course, more than a 100 years old and so historic. It was a pleasure to play it and I only wish it could have been better. Maybe next time.

Gullane was great preparation for The Open next week; only it could have been better with four rounds. The wind, the weather changes and the planning around the course is just what you need to work on for a Major and this was great for it.

Most top players opt to add Scottish Open to their schedule because of the build-up it gives for the Open. And it gets you in the right frame of mind.

So, now it is time to focus on the British Open, the third Major of the year and the one which I played for the first time in 2012 and it was my debut in a Major. I carry some great memories from that. It is still my best finish in a Major and I also had an ace. Going back to The Open yet again – for the third time in four years is a great feeling. I was not too well last year in Hoylake being laid low by chicken pox.

This time around I am physically and mentally in great shape, so I am looking forward to the event at St. Andrews. A Major at St. Andrews is indeed a dream that will become better with a good result.

While we love all Majors – the appearance at Augusta was amazing – the Major we all grow up with is The Open. That’s the Major where Indians have played most. Of my six, three have been Open and one each at the others.

I will have more when we get into the week of the Open and it will be a great to be there at the oldest Major and what we call as the Home of Golf.
