Aneesh, Khushi sparkle

Aneesh S Gowda bagged two gold with meet record timings on the opening day of the State Sub-junior and Junior Aquatic Championship here on Thursday.

The Pooja Aquatic Centre swimmer bossed the distance races, triumphing in the boys’ Group I 800M and 1500M freestyle races at the Chamundi Vihar Swimming Pool. While he clocked 8:38.61 in the shorter race, erasing the Saurab Sangvekar’s mark of 8:39.59 set way back in 2011 by a minute, he powered to a thumping win in 1500M, touching the pad in 16:26.87. He thus obliterated Mohit Venkatesh record of 16:43.48 by a mile.

In girls’ Group I, Khushi Dinesh of BAC powered to victories in the 800M freestyle and 1500M freestyle events.
