South Africa 'A' produced a commanding show to end day one at 389 for two against Board President's XI in the warm-up tie here at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Monday.

Electing to bat, the visitors dominated all the three sessions thanks to centuries from Sarel Erwee (117 retired hurt) and Zubayr Hamza (104 batting). The young Indian attack toiled hard with little success. At stumps, Rassie van der Dussen (35) was giving Hamza company.

Apart from the centurions, captain Khaya Zondo struck 67 while opener Pieter Malan made 51 in the run feast.

The visitors, who will play the first tie against India 'A' from August 4, began on a strong note, putting on 161 runs for the first wicket.

Jalaj Saxena dismissed Malan, who slammed seven boundaries in an 84-ball knock.

Erwee and Hamza were part of a big partnership, adding 155 runs for the second wicket, leaving the Board President's players frustrated.

In his 137-ball innings, Erwee hit 20 fours and one six. Hamza found the fence 13 times and cleared it once. Zondo smashed 11 fours before his stay in the middle was brought to an end by Dharmendrasinh Jadeja in the 72nd over.

The pace trio of Avesh Khan, Shivam Mavi and Ishan Porel would be aiming to make an impact on Day 2.

Brief scores: Day 1: South Africa 'A': 389/2 in 90 overs (Malan 51, Sarel Erwee 117, Zubayr Hamza 104 n.o., Khayelihle Zondo 67, Hendrik Van Der Dussen 35 n.o.) vs Board President’s XI
