Vasisht on course for grand double

Vasisht registered a hard-fought 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win against Evans Mirajkar in the boys’ under-14 semifinals and then he eased past Maharashtrean Dhuv Sunish 6-2, 6-4 in the under-12 last four match.

However, the highlight of the day was the upset victory by hosts’ wildcard entrant, Arjun Muralidhar who knocked out top-seeded team-mate Mohit Reddy 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 in the under-14 semis.

Vasisht’s opponent in the final of the under-12 category will be Tamil Nadu’s Bharath Nishok Kumaran, who defeated State-mate B Pranash in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
Evans Mirajkar and L Akash won the under-14 doubles title, defeated Vasisht and Surya Prasad 6-0, 6-2 in the final.

Boys: U-14 (semifinals): Arjun Muralidhar bt Mohit Reddy 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2; Vasisht C bt Evans Mirajkar 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Doubles (final): Evans Mirajkar/ L Akash (TN) bt C Vasisht /Surya Prasad 6-0, 6-2.  
U-12 (semifinals): Bharath Nishok Kumaran (TN) bt B Pranash (TN) 6-3, 7-6(3); Vasisht C bt Dhuv Sunish (Mah) 6-2, 6-4.

Girls: U-14 (semifinals): Shloka Kumar bt Shikha N Singh 6-2, 6-3; Swetha Samuel bt Nupur Umashankar 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

U-12 (semifinals): Prerana Kalwar bt Rasmika Rajan 6-1, 6-4; Shefali (AP) bt GS Vasavi (TN) 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.
