Vishnu, Jose spur Mysore Zone

Centuries from Vishnu P and Nikin Jose were backed up by a fine bowling performance as Mysore Zone held the upper hand against Mangalore Zone on day one of the under-19 KSCA inter-zonal tournament at the IAF ground on Wednesday.

Vishnu slammed an unbeaten 134 off 208 balls (4x16) while Nikin’s patient 124 (169b) was laced with 14 fours as Mysuru declared at a strong total of 302/4 in 70.3 overs. Mysuru bowlers then produced an impressive show to reduce Mangaluru to 60/5 at the end of day one.

In another match, an all-round President’s XI took 136-run first innings lead against Raichur. Amogh Shetty’s five-wicket haul (5/19) and Adoksh Hegde’s 3/8 helped President’s XI skittle out Raichur for 89.

In response, a century fro Pratik Bhandari (106, 149b, 17x4) and an unbeaten 44 from Adoksh helped President’s XI finish at a healthy score of 225/4.

At IAF, Raichur Zone: 89 all out in 44.3 overs (Vishwanath Patil 37, Chandrakanth 26; Santrupth Chandra 2-27, Amogh Shetty 5-19, Adoksh Hegde 3-8) vs President’s XI: 225/4 in 53 overs (BR Sharath 53, Pratik Bhandari 106, Adoksh Hegde 44 batting; N Raghavendra 3-24).

At Alur (3), Tumkur Zone: 140 all out in 47.2 overs (Puneeth 42; Utpal Nadiger 2-33, Anchit Aiyappa 3-21, M Vineeth 5-28) vs Bangalore City: 229/3 in 50 overs (Ankit Mishra 39, Anchit Aiyappa 91 batting, Desmond Antony 32, Madan 48 batting).

At Aditya Global, Dharwad Zone: 227 all out in 48.4 overs (Sagar Murgod 34, Rahul Vernekar 32, Swapnil Yelave 50, Ganesh Khatawate 25, Amay Bhatkande 38 batting; Gnan Akash 3-42, Mohammed Jaffer 4-44) vs Combined City XI: 40/1 in 8 overs.
