1.98 lakh candidates to write CET tomorrow

A total of 1.98 lakh candidates have registered themselves to write the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.

The examination is meant for securing admission to courses in engineering, agriculture sciences, veterinary sciences, pharmaceuticals, and other disciplines in the state’s colleges. Of the 1,98,639 candidates who have registered, 1,00,071 are males and the remaining 98,568 are females.

The examination will be conducted in the offline mode over two days with Biology and Mathematics on Wednesday and Physics and Chemistry on Thursday. This will be held in 430 centres across the state, 86 of them being in Bengaluru alone.

The Kannada language test for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates will be held on Friday in four centres in Bengaluru. A total of 2,240 candidates will be writing this paper.

The questions and answers for each subject will be printed both in English and Kannada. In case of any discrepancy between the two, the English version will be considered final. Students are advised to be present at their assigned centre half an hour before the start of the examination.

Deputy commissioners of all districts have been requested to appoint one observer to each examination centre. The police have been told to ensure adequate police security at all district treasuries and sub-treasuries where question papers are kept.

A total of 430 observers, 860 special invigilation squad members, 430 custodians, 12,440 invigilators and a total of 31,360 officers have been deployed for the examination duty. For more instructions, students may check the website of the Karnataka Examinations Authority at http://kea.kar.nic.in/.
