50,000 kits of foodgrains to be supplied soon

Food and Civil Supplies department Joint Directors Vijaykumar and Sadashiva Marji said that 50,000 kits of foodgrains will be provided to flood-affected people in Kodagu district within five days.

The state government has taken necessary steps to supply the kits. Each kit contains 10 kg rice, and one kg packets of cereals, salt and sugar and one litre edible oil. The kits will be distributed to the eligible for free at fair price shops through the local gram panchayats.

The kit will be provided as an additional item along with the foodgrains provided as part of the food supply in fair price shops, the Joint Director stated in a press release.

The children at a relief centre opened in Kodava Samaja, Somwarpet, danced to tunes of traditional Kodava trumpet to entertain people at the relief centre.
