With the recent Tipu Jayanti celebration turning into a fiasco, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday defended his absence, saying it was not a must for a head of state to participate in every function.
“Is it a must for a chief minister to go to every programme? There will be ministers who will represent the government. It’s not that a CM must and should participate,” HDK told reporters. He was responding to a question on Congress leader Tanveer Sait expressing displeasure that both Kumaraswamy and G Parameshwara skipped the event held at Vidhana Soudha on November 10.
On charges that the government was misusing the CCB to target mining baron G Janardhana Reddy, Kumaraswamy said the government was not indulging in revenge politics, nor had misused any agency.
