Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy opined that the water level in the four Cauvery River basin reservoirs reaching the full reservoir level (FRL) would augur well for all farmers; particularly paddy growers.

He spoke to reporters on his arrival at Mysore Airport in Mandakalli, near here, to visit Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill, on the occasion of Ashada Friday.

Kumaraswamy said for the last many years farmers were stressed by water scarcity and the water sharing issue between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu had complicated the situation. "This time, all the reservoirs are full and the farmers can enjoy peace," he said.

The CM said that he along with his cabinet collogues, Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar, Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh, Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda had offered 'bagina' to Kabini and Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dams.

Kumaraswamy and his wife Anita offered 'bagina' to Harangi Reservoir in Kodagu district on Thursday.

When reporters asked about former chief minister Siddaramaiah’s letter to the CM urging him not to change the syndicate members of state run universities appointed by the previous government, Kumaraswamy refused to comment and said, he would not discuss political matters.
