Last Updated 07 March 2019, 18:33 IST

Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani took a serious swipe at Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah saying that what development can people expect from a remote-controlled chief minister and the one who is scared of people sporting tilak.

Addressing the party workers at Modi Vijay Sankalpa Yatre here on Thursday, “Coalition government is looting the state. They came to power with a promise to waive farm loans. But they have neglected the farmers. Modi-led Union government has come up with several schemes for the welfare of the farmers. Kisan Samman scheme alone will benefit about 50 lakh farmers in the state. But the coalition is out to block the central schemes for obvious reasons.”

Continuing her tirade against the Congress leadership, the Union Minister said, “Three generations of Nehru-Gandhi clan faced elections in Amethi with the promise to provide rail service to the constituency. But the rail service just remained on paper. After Modi came to power, Amethi got rail service. Now, the fourth generation descendant of the family is contesting from Amethi. How can you expect him (Rahul) to develop the country, when he couldn’t develop his constituency?”

She urged the people to give the Pradhan Sevak Modi another chance for the stable and sustainable development of the country.

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa accusing Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of treachery and breach of trust, said, “The chief minister has fooled the farmers by making the false promise of waiving farm loans. As many as 170 taluks are reeling under severe drought. But the state government has not taken measures to mitigate the condition.”
