'Common man should be the real leader in democracy'

In a bid to widen its area of influence, the Aam Aadmi Party took out a road show in Mangalore on Saturday. Aam Aadmi Party candidate M R Vasudeva, clad in the trademark cap and a white shirt with their anti-corruption slogan was waving at the passer by and vehicles throughout the show.

The road show was flagged off from Pumpwell Circle and passed through Kankanady, Balmatta, Jyothi, Happankatta, before culminating at the DC’s Office. 

The youngsters supporting the old-hands were an encouraging sight. The AAP candidate had been engaged in meeting the voters by travelling in buses, and  visiting the markets in the constituency. The road show was accompanied with the band to cheer the volunteers.  The volunteers were holding placards with messages like ‘save girl child’, ‘vote for change’, stop religious bullies’ and ‘save Netravati.’ 

A few of the volunteers were also holding broomstick, the symbol of the party. Vasudeva said that the aam aadmi (common man) should get elected to the Parliament to bring in changes in the corrupt society. 

Addressing a rally, Vasudeva said: “our elders had dreamt of a strong democracy in India, but corruption is deep-rooted in the society. The bureaucrats do not respect common man and the judiciary is slow in disposing the cases. The major political parties are engaged in levelling allegations against each. The whole system needs a change.” 

“The planning commission set up  by the government said that with just a meager of Rs 27 one can get lunch and a breakfast while deciding on the poverty line. The major political parties have no plans for the common man.”  

Within 49 days of power in Delhi, the AAP was able to supply 666 litres of water free of cost and reduce the electricity bill, he added. He flayed the authorities for seizing AAP caps from a party worker, which was inside a vehicle in Mangalore.

Vasudeva said that among Aam Aadmi candidates 48 are social workers, 37 are RTI activists, four teachers, 24 engineers and 15 doctors. But, there are rapists, murderers and  criminals in other parties’ candidate list. In addition, family politics is on raise in all the parties. 

“We should not let criminals to enter the Parliament. The Common man should be the real leader in democracy,” he added. 

Yadav in M'lore

AAP leader Yogendra Yadav will  address the party volunteers at Town Hall in Mangalore on Sunday at 4.30 pm. The programme will include cultural programmes promoting national integration.

It will commence with a musical recital. The audience will be entertained by a variety of cultural performances after the address by Vasudeva and Yadav, said a press release.
