Chikmagalur tops in implementation of NREG scheme

Speaking to presspersons, he said special unit project, tribal scheme, 12 finance scheme, rural road connectivity action plan has been approved. All the projects will be completed by December end.
He said under housing scheme, 2,694 houses have been sanctioned to Chikmagalur taluk.

The list of 46 names of beneficiaries have been sent to Housing Corporation.
The work on repairing panchayat building has been commenced. Seating arrangement will be provided in the panchayat. With the available grants in Taluk Panchayat, new computers will be purchased.
Under Swarna Jayanthi Swarojgar scheme, two stalls will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5 lakh, to provide marketing facilities to the products produced by Sthree Shakthi Sangha.

Suresh said under Grama Swaraj scheme, saudha will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 37 lakh in the taluk panchayat premises.
Government has already earmarked Rs 25 lakh for the purpose. Remaining 12 lakh has been earmarked by the taluk panchayat.
He lamented that in this era of computer, taluk panchayat was not given technical staff so far.

Rs 18 crore grant
He said under National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme, Chikmagalur has the target of completing works worth Rs 18 crore. Rs 8 crore has been spent so far, said Zilla Panchayat CEO Ramanna.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, he said the implementation of the project is slow in Malnad region. Officials have been directed to speed up the work.
About 1,11,000 have been registered under NREGS in the district. Job cards have been distributed to 10,500 in Chikmagalur.
