JOIN USUrban Development Minister U T Khader said that authorities are mulling over constructing a new bridge at Moolarapatna instead of repairing the old collapsed bridge.
Speaking at a meeting after inspecting the collapsed bridge here on Saturday, he said, “The officials are looking into the repair of the bridge and construction of a new bridge. If the cost is the same, then, a new bridge will be constructed."
"The work on repairing the road leading to the hanging bridge at Moolarapatna is in progress. The road to Kolthamajalu to reach Bantwal will also be repaired. Home Guards will be deployed on either side of the hanging bridge,” he said.
The minister said that boat facility will also be provided to cross Phalguni river at the site of the collapsed bridge.
The district administration has been directed to contact the boat service providers and make necessary arrangements.
He added that KSRTC has been asked to operate two buses from Moolarapatna to Gurupura.
