Gov to hire 25K guest teachers

The Department of Primary and Secondary Education will recruit 25,600 guest faculty in various government schools.

According to a senior official in the Education Department, in the first stage, as many as 15,600 teachers will be appointed. In the next stage, 10,000 will be appointed.

The department has already conducted tests for the appointment of 10,000 permanent faculty and the order for their appointments is yet to be issued.

The 10,000 guest faculty will continue functioning only until the appointment of permanent staff. An honorarium of Rs 7,500 for primary and Rs 8,000 for high school staff is being proposed at an estimated Rs 118.60 crores, for which funds have been sought from the state government.
