Heavy rain lashes Shivamogga, Kalaburagi districts

Moderate to heavy rain continued to lash several parts of the state on Friday. Heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong wind lashed various parts of Shivamogga district on Friday.

Bhadravathi, Shivamogga and Sagar received good spell of rain for about 20 minutes in the evening. Two coconut trees caught fire at Malla village in Sagar takuk. Hosanagar, Thirthahalli and other parts of the district witnessed cloudy weather in the evening signalling rain at night.

Heavy rain lashed Chincholi taluk in Kalaburagi district. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds lashed Kalaburagi and parts of the district on Thursday night. Belagavi received light showers with hailstones for an hour late on Friday evening.

There were reports of rain from Chikkodi, Nippani, Gokak, Saundatti and Khanapur. It rained for around 10 minutes in Gadag. An ox was struck dead by lightning in Chinchli village of the taluk.


Mango, banana and arecanut plantations on more than 15 acres were ravaged due to heavy rain and strong wind in Malavalli village of Mundgod taluk, Uttara Kannada district.
