Hot on MLAs' trail, ‘cool’ CM back to work

It was back to business for Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday, as he was engaged in thwarting the BJP’s attempts to dislodge his government over the last few days.

Kumaraswamy, who had kept away from office the last two days, decided to go ahead with his official engagements.

Unfazed by the previous day’s developments which saw two Independent MLAs withdrawing support to his government, Kumaraswamy told reporters early in the day that there was no threat to his government.

He instead put the blame on the media for “misleading” the people of the state.

“I am cool and relaxed - which means that there is no threat to my government. The Congress and JD(S) MLAs will not to shifted to any resort - there is no need for us to do so. My government is safe. The media is misleading the people by saying that the coalition government will collapse.

MLAs including Ramesh Jarkiholi and B Nagendra are in touch with me. I have been speaking to them for the last three days. There is no need for Operation JD(S),” he added.

Though he gave the Minorities Welfare department programme (choosing of Haj pilgrims through lottery) a miss, he took part in other meetings.

Kumaraswamy, who began his pre-budget meeting, also held the Janata Darshan at his official residence Krishna.
