Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) president B S Yeddyurappa has said the Congress would sweep the Lok Sabha elections in the State, if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not ally with the KJP in the State.

Yeddyurappa here on Monday told reporters that he himself had advocated Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate when he was in the party. More than 70 per cent people in the country want to see Modi as prime minister and the NDA in power.

Offering alliance

“I have voluntarily offered an alliance with the NDA. BJP is the NDA representative in the State and hope that it would ally with the KJP. If BJP does not ally with the KJP, the Congress could sweep the Lok Sabha elections.”

The KJP executive committee meeting has decided to ally with the NDA but without compromising on its identity. “We would demand 10-12 seats during negotiations. We have not spoken to any leader in the NDA and decision to support was voluntary,” he said.
