Anti Naxal Force (ANF) personnel launched combing operations on Friday after being tipped about the increased Maoist activity on the border of Kodagu district.

According to the information received by ANF, two Maoists gangs were spotted in Wayanad forest, located 8 km away from Kodagu, a week ago. Accordingly, ANF has been put on high alert in the district. Kerala and Kodagu police also carried out a joint combing operation inside the forest for past three days. The police had stepped up vigil in forests of Koinadu and Sampaje as well.

According to intelligence inputs shared with ANF personnel, Maoist gangs were attempting to mislead flood victims in order to expand their activities in the region.
