Kodagu district bags 74.5 pc in SSLC exam

Girls outshine boys this year

Last year Kodagu had secured 77.92 per cent. Though the percentage of Kodagu has reduced when compared to last year, it has climbed up the ladder from 9th position in the state to 7th position.

A total of 6,766 students appeared for the examination this year, excluding the students writing supplementary examination and private candidates. Of this, 5,042 students have passed. Even this year, girls have outdone the boys in the examination. Of the total 3,208 boys who appeared for the examination, 2,287 students have passed while out of 3,558 girls as many as 2,755 have passed. A total of 1,724 students have passed with first class marks, 1,226 students have secured second grade and 2,075 have passed with third grade.

100 per cent results

As many as 17 schools have bagged cent per cent results. Two schools in Madikeri taluk, 10 schools and Virajpet and 5 schools in Somwarpete have bagged cent per cent results.  All the 80 students from Kalathnadu Lions High School who appeared for the exam have passed with first class marks bringing 100 per cent results for the school.

Parane High School, Kudige Government Sports High School, Palibetta Lourdes Hill High school, Kodagarahalli Shanthiniketan High School, Kalathmadu Lions High School, Devarapura Rajeshwari Vidyaniketan, Basavarahalli morarji Desai High School, Chaudlu Sandeepani High School, Gonikoppa St Thomas High School, Aruvathoklu Sarvadaivatha High School, Ponnampete Sai Shankar High School, Nellihudikeri Anglo Vernacular High School, Srimangala J C English Medium High School, Bittangala Rotary English Medium High School, Murnadu Kodamburu Jnana Jyoti High School, Virajpet Bright High School and Maggula Rolix English Medium High School are the schools which have bagged cent per cent result in the district this year.

Lowest scorers

Chennaianakote Government Composite High School is the lowest scoring school in the entire district with 24 per cent result. Somwarpet Government PU College (25 per cent), Virajpet Sarvodaya High School (30 per cent), Beluru Doreshri Veera Rajendra High School (29.8 per cent) and Madikeri Rajeshwari High School (34.5 per cent) are some of the other lowest scoring schools in the district.

Toppers
K C Chinnamma of Shrimangala J C High School from Virajpet taluk is the district topper with 96.64 per cent marks. She has scored a total of 604 marks. She aims to be an IAS officer in future.

Jahanavi Prasad of St Joseph’s School Madikeri stands second with 94.72 per cent (592 marks). P G Kaveramma from the same school stands third with 94.56 per cent (591 marks). Vipul Somanna of St Michael High School has scored 589 marks followed by Bhargav of St Joseph’s High School Somwarpet who has scored 586 marks.
